Big brother little sister questions

  1. My response to the title of the text is that. Hema and Janey have a special family relationship that some siblings don’t have if i were to rename it i would change it too family relationships because the story is based on family and sibling

2. The story was set in wellington at night. When Hema and Janey go down the streets of Newtown. ” As she passed under a street light her shadow reached out like a birds wing “. this is a comparison to Janey being like a bird

3. Witi ihimaera uses messages in the text to communicate his point across to the readers the message that stands out the most is when Hema and Janey’s uncle Pera, comes into the picture after the father leaves when this happen hema and janey are left to their own devices and are neglected by their mother ” Go away kids, uncle Pera and i want to be alone “. I have seen first hand what neglect looks like one of my close friends is being neglected by her parent i personally feel quite bad and lucky that i don’t have this happening in my life it’s made me realise that not everyone’s family’s are happy and have a good relationship

4. The character i disliked the most was the mother because of what she was doing to her kids. She didn’t realise the responsibility that she had to look after Janey and Hema so instead she decided to completely shut them out of her life and going out to parties with uncle Pera, this tell the readers that the mother isn’t being a very good role model for her kids.

5. The character that i enjoyed the most was Hema because he’s a good role model of his little sister Janey like most older siblings they have a job to protect and have responsibility when your parents aren’t their in Hema and Janey case this is most of the time i believe that hema is realistic because he is a good brother to Janey

6. i would recommend this story to teenagers because most teenagers are going through what Janey and hema have experienced teenagers who have experienced this can relate to this story because in society nowadays it is common.
